INTERNATIONAL SERVICE

Quiz Night Raises Chernobyl Funds

Presidentís Team Cruises To Victory

This yearís† hardworking International Service Committee held a very successful Quiz Evening in the Royal George Hotel on 2 June, raising £1130 towards the cost of flights for the Belarus children suffering the after effects of the Chernobyl disaster in 1986.

International Service Convenor Rtn. George Pollock said afterwards, ďI would like to express our sincere thanks to Vince Smith and his team for devoting so much time and effort to presenting the Quiz Night. My Committee set a target of £1000, so we are delighted to have exceeded this figure.Ē

The quiz rounds ranged from one where the only answers allowed were YES or NO to amusic round, an animal round and a local knowledge round.

The answers given were sometimes controversial (is Ben Macdhui really in Perthshire?), but also entertaining (do YOU know the part of a womanís anatomy most frequently altered?) and frequently educational (I didnít know Kintillo is the oldest village in Scotland).

Vinceís offer to run the Quiz arose when the Club gave £3500 to his £30000 PRI Prostate Scanner Appeal. He and his team of 6 helpers organised all the paperwork, collected in the completed answer sheets and collated the results as well as running the raffle.

Thanks Vince.
