Only Room For 38 Teams In Quiz Night

Vince Helps Rotary Raise Money For Chernobyl

The booking is now open for the Quiz night which Vince Smith will run in the Royal George Hotel on Friday 2 June.

You will recall that Vince, along with others, ran the PRI Prostate Cancer Scanner Appeal, which aimed to raise £30,000, and that Perth St Johns contributed the £3500 which took it past the target.

Vince was so impressed that he offered to run one of his famous Quiz Nights to raise money for a charity chosen by the Club.

President George offered this to the Service Committee Convenors and Rtn. George Pollock put in a bid to use the proceeds to help with the cost of air fares for the Chernobyl Children coming over in June.

It will be President George’s fundraising swansong, and he looks forward to a sporting attitude by all.

“This will be, first and foremost, a fun night,” said President George, “where groups of people famed for their good manners, play out the evening in the spirit that it is more important to take part and raise money for good causes than to win”…… yeah, right!

By George has it on good authority that teams from the other 2 Clubs in Perth are already in training to try to make sure that they beat our teams in this competition “just as we always beat you in curling, golf, the Gavel, etc.etc.etc.

There is only room for 38 teams of 4 to take part, and

it is very much a case of first come, first served. The first 38 people to place a £20 note in Rtn Pollock’s sweaty hand will be the ones to have their knowledge tested on the night. These Quiz nights are well supported by businesses in Perth, and it would be embarrassing if the Club could not field a good number of teams.

Don’t wait until nearer the time - diaries fill up quickly, so make arrangements tomorrow, in fact, better today!

Make up a team from your closest friends in the Club - you must be able to find three friends, can’t you?;

how about you, your partner and 2 neighbours?; or

a Past Presidents’ Team;

we could have a Paul Harris Fellows Team;

a Perth St Johns Curling Team;

a team from each of the Probus clubs represented amongst our members;

a team of previous members

You can also help by cutting out the flyer attached to this newsletter and passing it on to a friend, group or business that might want to field a team.
